Pentagon, US spy chief urge use of more Russian rocket engines

WASHINGTON: US Defense Secretary Ash Carter and the country's spy boss this week encouraged a key Senate board to alter government law to permit a joint endeavor of the two biggest US arms creators to utilize more Russian RD-180 rocket motors.

Carter and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper encouraged Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain, in a letter dated May 11, to change the law so the Pentagon can hold "guaranteed access to space". This is a lawful necessity that commands accessibility of two satellite dispatch vehicles so the US military can simply get satellites into space, regardless of the possibility that one of the rockets is grounded because of a disastrous disappointment.

The letter, acquired by Reuters, is the most recent turn a show encompassing United Launch Alliance, a joint endeavor of Lockheed Martin Corp and Boeing Co, and its sole potential rival Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX. The recent is nearing affirmation by the Air Force to go after some military and spy satellite dispatches.

The present debate focuses on a proviso in the 2015 guard approval law banning utilization of Russian motors that were not paid for before Russia's addition of Crimea a year ago.

The Air Force - and now Pentagon pioneers - have requested that Congress change the law to incorporate motors that ULA requested, yet had not paid for, around then for utilization in its Atlas 5 dispatch vehicle.

ULA is looking for the alleviation on the grounds that it is ending utilization of the vast majority of its US-fueled Delta 4 rockets on the grounds that they are too excessive, and its new Vulcan rocket won't be prepared until 2022 or 2023.

The House Armed Services Committee has effectively proposed a comparable change.

Aviation based armed forces Secretary Deborah James a month ago said changing the law would permit ULA to go after 18 of 34 aggressive dispatches somewhere around 2015 and 2022 against SpaceX, versus only five dispatches.

No quick response was avaiable from McCain, yet he has been condemning of proceeded with utilization of the Russian rocket motors, refering to worries about the expense and reports Russia is expanding its costs.

Carter and Clapper did not address that issue. They said regardless of the possibility that the Air Force confirms SpaceX, losing access to the Atlas 5 and Delta 4 rockets could leave the Air Force with "a multi-year crevice where we have neither guaranteed access to space nor a situation where cost based rivalry is conceivable."

ULA says the proposed change would safeguard important rivalry and deflect a potential hole in ability.

SpaceX administrators contend ULA ought to have concentrated long back on bringing down the expense of its Delta 4 rockets.

Russia eases citizenship norms for native Russian speakers

In April, Russian government simplified the norms for giving citizenship to its native people. According to the new rule, citizens who can give a proof that they/their family have lived within the boundaries of Soviet Union or Russia, are eligible for getting the citizenship.

These modifications in the citizenship norms were signed by the President Vladimir Putin and made into law. He annexed Crimea last month and he was of the view that this law would protect the rights of native Russian speakers across the former Soviet Union.
The law came into force in just 3 weeks and established an easy procedure for gaining Russian citizenship for foreign citizens and also for native Russians who don’t have citizenship

This procedure is planned to take 3 months according to a report by Russian television. It requires people to give up any other citizenship before they can get a Russian passport. For applying people have to face an interview to prove that they are well-conversant in Russian language. They should prove that they use Russian in family, household and cultural spheres.

They must also prove that they or their relatives live permanently in Russian or their ancestors lived within the Soviet borders before the Revolution of Bolshevik in 1917. Earlier there were very stringent laws for getting citizenship in Russia and it was difficult for those who started living outside its borders after the Soviet got broke in 1991.
The modification in the citizenship law allows people to avoid long and official procedure in order to get citizenship. There are certain flaws in the law which still needs to be resolved. It is still not clear what criteria would be used to identify which applicant is a native speaker?

How cheap translations can dupe your business

Globalization has created new avenues for industries in every sector. It has given new prospects for expanding their businesses to offshore places in the foreign market. While the industries/businesses grow and establish their roots in foreign markets, most of them face the challenges of multi-lingual and multi-cultural diversity of their prospective customers. These challenges have generated the necessity of language translators who specialize in various dialects. Out of all the languages spoken around the world, French, German, Spanish, Russian and English are widely used for business communication. Language translators help businesses to communicate with their potential customers effectively by producing apt translations.

Let us take one example; a FMCG company based in Russia wants to establish its network in a Hindi speaking market of India. In order to woo its Indian customers, it will have to make a connection with Hindi speaking population, by communicating with them in Hindi. Since English is the second language of Indians so translating in English language will not solve the purpose. So, it hires a Russian translation service in India which can translate its content from Russian to Hindi.

Now-a-days you can find numerous translation companies which provide translations in various languages. However, before you choose any translation agency you must ensure that it is certified and specializes in the languages spoken by your customers. Many translation companies claim to provide quality translations at cheap price which can actually dupe your business. A cheap translation can lead to an increase in the cost of trials due to poor quality translations. Moreover, it can delay your market planning for your targeted customers and may even get worse by leading to dismissal of your project and lawsuits by the regulators. As far as the product is concerned, a poor translation can create huge impact on its efficiency and effectiveness. Ultimately you would require re-translation of your work which will burn a hole in your pocket!
